Operation Stimulus

31st Annual Event

January 26-28, 2012 in Denver, CO

Why chose “Moving the Widget” as this year’s theme?

“As professionals in the Logistics/Transportation industry, we are often asked what type of product we manage and move and the simplest yet most helpful explanation is the “Widget.” The term has been around 100 years in our industry, but recently (in the internet era) it is becoming more popular to describe a small application for computer software. We thought this would be a fun way to reclaim the word as it pertains to Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation. Officially, Merrian-Webster defines the word Widget as: “1. Gadget, 2. An unnamed article considered for purposes of hypothetical example.” Operation Stimulus is the perfect vehicle to reclaim our prized possession before the internet moguls take it from us!”
- Matt Trone Senior Associate, Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.

Begun as a forum to promote educational opportunities for those within the transportation community, OpStim has evolved into a forum/conference to include high school and college students who wish to pursue a career in transportation.

This year’s event included 16 universities, 1 high school, and over 175 business professionals all interested in gaining knowledge. Scholarships are awarded.  Professors and businesses are recognized for excellence in the field of education, leadership and advocacy.

Panel sessions, student debates, historical perspectives, social and professional networking, fundraising and recreational opportunities all comprise Operation Stimulus,  the premiere conference on transportation and logistics within the Rocky Mountain region.
